The publishing division of the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) wanted to upgrade their existing website to something that was easily manageable and gave them the control they required.

We built them a customised Content Management System (CMS) that incorporated all the existing data for their range of products and science journals, plus gave them a simple interface to update the sites contents.

The CMS engine pulls data in from a variety of sources ranging from XML files to Oracle and Microsoft SQL Databases.

User management and version control were also a requirement of the application and these were incorporated along with a WYSIWYG HTML editor to make things even easier.

Since the site's main purpose was to sell CSIRO products it had to be searchable and indexed by major search engines. We achieved this by customising the web server to display readable URLS that could be indexed by search engines such as Google and Yahoo.
